Performance engineering is a new field for the software professionals to get drowned in. Well not exactly a new field, but somethings that big corporations and small ones too beginning to realize. They are beginning to realize the importance of the fact that "fast" is something that is embedded to the human attitude. Research shows users would not wait for more than 15 seconds before they leave the page sometimes to never come back again.
Well Performance engineering is not all about web pages, its about web applications, standalone applications. Its a whole area of research by itself.
